The gardens at our Crawley campus provide an inspirational learning and teaching environment.
They are a significant tourist attraction and provide a beautiful setting for business, community and cultural events.
The gardens are registered by the Australian Heritage Commission and are listed on the National Estate. They were presented with the inagural Civic Design Award in 1986.
UWA Friends of the Grounds was established by the University through the Hackett Foundation in 2000 to enhance the grounds through an annual program of activities which include:

We are thrilled to be associated with the publication of A Landscape for Learning A History of the Grounds of The University of Western Australia by George Seddon and Gillian Lilleyman.
The book traces the story of the University's vibrant setting. From its early role as an Aboriginal meeting place and hunting ground, the site became the landholding of some of the State's most prominent colonists before being offered as the magnificent location for Western Australia's first university.
