The generosity of donors to UWA began with the original bequest from Sir Winthrop Hackett, which established the University in 1911, and continues with the creation of the Hackett Foundation in 1998.
Since then, friends and alumni have donated to the University in the form of scholarships, works of art, contributions for buildings and support for ground-breaking research. This generosity has made UWA the top university in Western Australia, and one with national and international renown.

The generosity of donors to UWA began with the original bequest from Sir Winthrop Hackett, which established the University in 1911, and continues with the creation of the Hackett Foundation in 1998. Our alumni have made almost 9,000 gifts and donated more than $4.45 million to the Annual Fund, funds which have allowed us to provide scholarships for those outstanding students who face financial hardship, build facilities to enable the highest level of research and learning, and to attract and retain the best possible research and teaching staff. The UWA Centenary Trust for Women was established in 2002 to support and encourage women facing financial difficulties when studying at UWA. |
The Fogarty Foundation in partnership with UWA make available up to 10 scholarships annually to students who show significant academic potential, together with a strong sense of community involvement and responsibility. The UWA Centenary Trust for Women (CTW) Scholarships provide financial assistance to eligible women who cannot afford to begin or continue their studies at UWA.
