Stephen Beckwith

Bachelor of Engineering with Honours in Electrical Engineering, 1989
PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, 1997

I started work in instrumentation, power, control systems and radio communications system design at the Water Authority of Western Australia before moving to Karratha as the Regional Electrical Engineer for the Authority's Pilbara and Kimberley operations.

I became an Associate Lecturer in the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department at UWA while studying for a PhD. Later, I worked with  Process Control Technology in advanced control for mining, gas and power applications using expert system technology.

I worked in London for L3 Storm Communications, sub-contracted to Inmarsat, an owner and operator of a fleet of communications satellites that provide global voice and data communications services. This involved the development of a new system which would control Inmarsat's existing and future satellite fleet.

I returned to Australia and have a long-term contract to provide SCADA engineering services, including project planning, definition, specification, and technical design.
