Dr Annie Sparrow

Paediatrician

Studying at The University of Western Australia equipped me with the knowledge base to complete a Masters degree in Public Health at Harvard University and walk away with the annual Albert Schweitzer Award, in recognition of work and activities marked by 'a reverence for life'.

Today, I am using my Harvard Millennium Fellowship in Human Rights to monitor the situation of refugees from the conflict-ridden Sudan. There is such an integral relationship between health and human rights and I would like to be able to raise awareness of that in Australia.

My brother Philip and his wife Julie (both UWA graduates) live in Mazar-i-Sharif in the north of Afghanistan, working in community development and building local health, sanitation and agriculture programs.
