Joanna Kieboom

Bachelor of Engineering with First Class Honours in Mechanical Engineering, 1992

Since 1998 I have managed the Northern Territory Government's Energy Management Services business unit which aims to increase the energy efficiency of buildings in the Territory. I am involved in the full range of building energy efficiency activities: from high level national policy discussions to advising on technology to be used in state of the art new building projects.

A research project at university on Orbital Engine Corporation's high efficiency, low emissions engine technology formed my honours thesis. Then, after a year as a graduate project engineer at BP's Kwinana Refinery, I worked as Marketing Engineer for Orbital. This involved marketing Orbital Combustion Process technology to the European automotive industry. A third of my time was spent in Europe organising vehicle demonstrations and supporting the Corporate Engineering Manager's commercial negotiations.

My further studies were quickly overtaken by a job with the Australian Cooperative Research Centre for Renewable Energy (ACRE) where I assisted with strategic planning and policy advice.

Before moving to Darwin, I worked as Business Development Analyst for Pacific Solar in Sydney and managed the product development project for the company's Plug and Power rooftop photovoltaic system.
